Lieutenant-Colonel, 94th Yeniseiski Regiment

This new work of mine is the latest collaboration with Model Cellar's close friend Paul Ondeck.
The bust was modeled by Steve Leadley.

This figure was taken from a beautiful illustration on the Osprey Man at Arms # 364 "The Russian Army 1914-18"

It is a good figure, it consists of five pieces and is quick to assemble. Excellent print quality, I did not use putty during assembly.
He is a fun figure to paint because we can use different techniques to simulate finishes such as the heavy uniform cloth and the light duster cloth, the felt of the officer cap, the leather of the pistol holster and binocular case and a torch.

As usual I painted this figure using acrylic and oil paints.
 
A rather crumpled ‘duster’ coat is worn to protect the uniform; this pod-polkovnlk has attached his shoulder boards of rank to this. Wearing medals was obligatory, even in combat; this officer has the Order of St. Anne 3rd Class with Swords.

OFFICIER DES VOLTIGUERS INFANTERIE DE LIGNE CENT-JOURS 1815

Diversi sono gli elementi dell’uniforme di questo soggetto che lo identificano come appartenente al periodo di fine Impero inizio Restaurazione.
Lo shako leggermente svasato verso l’alto del 1812 introduce nello stile quello che sarà il modello 1820, ed in questo caso si noti l’assenza dell’aquila imperiale al di sopra della placca, frutto di una modifica effettuata nel corso della prima Restaurazione, non più rimpiazzata nelle concitate fasi della riorganizzare dei Cento Giorni.
Tipiche anche del periodo fine Impero sono le spalline leggermente più grandi e spostate in avanti e lo stivale stretto alla caviglia e con forma cosiddetta “a canna fumaria”.
Interessante anche il “surtout” di produzione sartoriale con taglio piuttosto fuori ordinanza soprattutto al petto realizzato molto accorciato a scoprire la patta delle brache. Il colore distintivo della compagnia d’èlite, giallo (chamois) è presente solo sul colletto.
Ultime note, sullo stile dell’acconciatura tipica di fine impero che annuncia la moda Romantica delle Restaurazione con icapelli arricciati, baffi lunghi e folti e la comparsa della “mouche” (il triangolino di barba sotto il labbro inferiore), e sulla piccola borraccina in ottone sospesa ad una cordicella che conservava qualche sorso di alcool per un veloce momento piacevole!

There are several elements of this subject's uniform identify as belonging to the period of the end of the Empire Restoration.
The slightly flared shako upwards of 1812 introduces in style what will be the 1820 model, and in this case yes note the absence of the imperial eagle above the plate,
the result of a change made during the first Restoration, no longer replaced in the excited stages of the rearrange the Hundred Days.
Shoulder straps are also typical of the late Empire period slightly larger and moved forward and the boot tight ankle and with a so-called "flue" shape.
Also interesting is the "surtout" of sartorial production with cut rather out of order especially to the chest made very shortened to discover the breeches flap. The distinctive color of the elite company, yellow (chamois) is only present on the collar.
Last notes, on the style of the typical late empire hairstyle announcing the Romantic Restoration fashion with i curled hair, long and thick mustache and the appearance of the "Mouche" (the little beard triangle under the lower lip), and on the small one brass water bottle suspended from a string that kept a few sips of alcohol for a quick pleasant moment!
